Hello, my name is Michael DuBasso and this will be my blog on stamps, and stamp collecting. Stamp collecting started out in the 1800’s when the first postage stamp was introduced in Europe. Many children started stamp collecting at an early age and was dismissed as a children s hobby, little did the adults know that once these children grew up and became adult the world of stamps and stamps collecting would change. Many of these children went from stamp collectors and hobbies to become philatelist. Michael DuBasso. a philatelist is not only a collector of stamps and its hobby, but a person that studies all things postal related and they may collect stamps, envelopes, used stamps, postage. Many philatelist today that collected stamps when they where young have made a decent living helping out other collectors or people that have inherited stamps from their family.
Stamp collecting does not simply mean that you are a philatelist, a stamp collector can collect stamp just for the fun of it and not for the study of detail, historical value, or geographical importance of a stamp.
